Support and sponsorships Being a good corporate citizen is about taking responsibility and helping to provide tools that would otherwise be lacking. Encouraging children in Venezuela to read Nynas actively supports Banco del Libro, an organisation whose purpose is to encourage children and teenagers, primarily from low-income families in Venezuela, to develop an interest in reading. The first tangible result of this partnership was a new school library in Ciudad Ojeda in the federal state of Zulia, where Nynas sources its crude oil. Since then, two more school libraries have been opened. Each library has around 1,200 books. There are many ways to protect the environment. Today, Nynas helps the Swedish Sea Rescue Society with both training and funding. Our commitment has helped the society equip environmental rescue tows at 20 different rescue stations across the country. "We will now be able to assist the Swedish Coast Guard, among others, to put a first 'band-aid on the environment' in case of an oil spill, thereby helping to minimise the damage," says Anders Jönsson, Project Manager at the Swedish Sea Rescue Society.
