High polarity industrial rubbers– Nynas Nytex series

By high polarity industrial rubbers we are referring to such materials as Styrene-Butadiene- Rubber (SBR) and Chloroprene Rubber (CR).

Mineral oils of higher polarity have been and are being used as plastizers for this type of application, especially for SBR, very similar to their use in tyre applications.

Traditionally aromatic extracts have been a product widely used for this type of industrial rubbers but as the environmental and health hazards of aromatic oils are being more mapped out, the industry is moving away from these to plasticizers with enhanced HSE properties.

Here's where Nynas naphthenic oils offer a most suited solution for the industry. Our naphthenic oils from the Nytex series combine high solvent power, almost matching that of aromatic extracts with high HSE properties, fulfilling the criteria of low PAH concentration stipulated by the EU (Regulation 1907/2006/EC (REACH) Annex XVII.50). For Chloroprene rubber we have seen in our studies that our medium viscosity Nytex oils can be used to replace phthalate-based plasticizers, such as DOP with no sacrifice in properties of the final product.

Furthermore, given the broad product range, our customers are likely to find the production most suited to their individual requirements within our range.
