Focus on the tyre sector

Thorsten Lutze has been appointed as Market Manager for the Chemical Industry, making him responsible for more than 25 chemical applications on a global basis.

"Of these the tyre and polymer segments are the most important applications," explains Lutze. "That's one of the reasons why Nynas recently formed a Global Tyre Oil Team with dedicated specialists around the world."

From 2010 new regulations for oils used in the tyre industry will become law in the EU. As a consequence the industry is replacing highly aromatic extender oils with non-labelled alternatives in order to supply more environmentally-friendly tyres. An estimated 1.2 million tons of oil are to be replaced annually.

Nynas has made tyre oils a top priority. They have built up considerable understanding of customer requirements in this sector and developed a range of products to fulfil these.

"We see great potential in a challenging market", Lutze continues, "as we have non-labelled alternatives, and global sales and distribution".
