Being an operator at an oil refinery is not easy. With over 300 gauges to keep an eye on – three times more than in a jumbo – you have to be alert at all times.
Data from 7,000 sensors throughout the refinery is continuously fed to 25 panels in the control room. It's your job to watch them all. "As an operator you have a lot of responsibility. An oil refinery is not a good place to fall asleep on the job," says a senior operator at the refinery in Nynashamn.
