Finding the right extender oil for a TPE can be difficult. Naphthenic oils have been used as plasticisers in TPE compounds for many years and offer a number of advantages.

Naphthenic oils provide higher solvating power compared to paraffinic oils with the same aromatic content. In TPE applications, Nynas naphthenic oils produce excellent tensile strength and elasticity, together with good colour stability and virtually without odour.

The low aromatic content of naphthenic oils will not affect the styrene block in styrenic TPE molecules, and thereby preserve the overall strength. Naphthenic plasticizers also exhibit excellent compatibility with the mid-block phase.
