Select from a wider range of resins

Naphthenic oils are commonly used in news inks because they dissolve resins and other additives more easily than paraffinic grades with the same aromatic content. This gives you the flexibility to select from a wider variety of resins and find more cost-effective formulations.

Superior wetting and faster dispersion

Naphthenic grades also provide better wetting and faster dispersion of carbon black and other pigments. This, combined with the high solvating power of naphthenic oils, results in homogenous and stable blends that are free from sediment.

High solvency, unlabelled, light colour

Naphthenic oils offer a number of other benefits:

• Modern naphthenic oils are unlabelled, with polyaromatic levels below 3% by IP 346.
• Nynas hydrotreated oils are very lightly coloured, and some grades water white. This makes it easier to blend coloured inks.
• Nyprint is a unique bitumen oil that has been optimised for printing applications.
• Misting can be eliminated by using an oil with the right level of solvency. With our wide range of grades, we can help you find an oil that prevents misting.
