The Nynas Finance department, Europe HUB, is responsible for the accounting and legal compliance of Nynas’ subsidiaries in fourteen countries across Europe. To strengthen our German Finance Team based in Hamburg we are looking for an Energy Tax & Customs Specialist to support our operations at the refinery in Harburg.

Key responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to support the site in complying with all national and EU harmonized Energy tax & customs requirements, ensuring the legality, regularity and sound financial management of all governing customs and energy tax relevant systems and procedures being applied in practice In this context also to advice other Nynas departments dealing with EMCS issues.

The general tasks in this position cover inter alia dealing with EU wide harmonized Energy tax issues and Custom requirements foremost in Germany on behalf of a global orientated mid-sized mineral oil company. In first place you will serve as a deputy on behalf of the central Finance department in Sweden, particularly supporting the German Financial Accounting department of the Refinery in Harburg, including the local Processing & Scheduling (P&S) division and the attached Customs Unit. You will be based at the Harburg refinery in Germany and report to the Scheduling Lead Harburg.

Candidate profile

  • You possess a Graduate degree in Economics, Customs or Taxation with special focus on Customs and Indirect taxes (Bachelor or Master in Betriebswirtschaft, Diplomfinanzwirt und/oder Steuerberater) or similar.
  • Hands-on work experience would be appreciated.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams.
  • German and English (fluent)
  • High degree of own initiative in identifying areas for continuous improvement (CIP)
  • plus delivering proposals for their productive implementation.
  • Nynas is using JDEdwards as approved ERP system for the customs and Excise processes.
  • Relevant experience would be a given advantage.
  • This position is new and requires a high degree of self-motivation.
