Laboratory Engineer to Process Technology based in Nynäshamn (Temporary position)

About the role

Nynas AB is a different oil company. They believe in using oil in a sustainable manner. They are global leaders in high performance specialty product applications. Nynas has nearly 900 employees, production plants in Europe, the US and South America and sales offices in 30 countries. They have a turnover of some 2.5 billion EUR and are growing steadily. Together with their customers they work to understand their needs and processes to provide a strong partnership in product development. They call it,”taking oil further”.

Due to parental leave, they are now looking for a Laboratory Engineer to the Process Technology Department. The department is an R&D department utilizing pilot hydrotreaters, microreactors and pilot distillation units, at process development studies for production of both the present naphthenic specialty products and possible new products from different crude oils.

This position is a temporary replacement of an employee at parental leave during the period from mid- August until December 2021. As a Laboratory Engineer, you will mainly perform different chemical analyses on samples collected during the development studies and assist the Pilot Plant Engineers at operating the hydrotreaters and distillation units. Common analyses carried out are viscosity and flashpoint measurements, cold flow properties, IR-, GC- and XRF-analyses etc.

Safety is important at Nynas and you are expected to always work in a safe manner according to valid instructions.

Academic Work is responsible for the recruitment process, but you will be employed directly by Nynas AB.

We are looking for

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or other relevant post-secondary level chemistry education.
  • Fluent English spoken and written is required, Swedish is advantageous.

We are looking for a person with a strong interest for laboratory and practical work. We value quality mindedness, good organizational skills, and a high level of accuracy. A strong safety mindset and a natural ability to identify potential risks related to the laboratory work, is also required.
