Process Safety Engineer, Nynäshamn, Sweden

The HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) department provide the Nynäshamn refinery with specialist competence in the areas of work environment, environment, process safety, security, emergency and crisis management and fire safety. Included in the department is also the Refinery Rescue Services. As process safety engineer your line manager will be the HSE Manager NHN, but you will also work 50 % for the Group HSSEQ Director.

About the job

As a process safety engineer, you’ll be a part of the local HSSE team in Nynäshamn but you will also support all of Nynas in the area of process safety. You will continue to develop Nynas integrated management system in the area of process safety and work closely with our Engineering department with respect to inherently safer design. Nynäshamn is a higher tier Seveso (COMAH) site you will be expected to support the update of the safety report and process safety information. Nynas is a member of IPS (Intressentföreningen för processäkerhet) and you are expected to take part in relevant projects within IPS.

Key responsibilities

Within the area of process safety you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and implementing legal requirements in Nynäshamn.
  • Leading risk assessments and root cause investigations for all of Nynas.
  • Provide training in risk assessment, accident investigation and other process safety related subjects for all of Nynas.
  • Setting minimum requirements within Nynas.
  • Leading and developing the process safety network within Nynas.

Candidate profile

To do well in this position you need to have the ability to work independently as well as in teams. As a person, you need to be accurate, structured, service minded and a good communicator with a high level of integrity.

  • To apply for this position, you need to fulfill the following criteria’s:
  • MSc in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Several years experience within chemical or process industry.
  • Fluent in both Swedish and English, oral and written.
  • Experience of working with process safety.
