Transparency, open dialogue and engagement with all stakeholders, especially its neighbours, is of the highest importance for every Nynas production site.
Nynas has been operating its refinery in Nynäshamn, Sweden, since 1928 and is the largest private employer in the area. With that comes a responsibility to maintain good relations with the local community.
”Our initiative Good Neighbour aims for transparency by establishing a dialogue with politicians, municipality officials, teachers and others living in Nynäshamn,” says Hans Östlin, Nynas Communications Director. “This is achieved through regular information, invitations to visit the refinery, and participation in different councils and meetings.”
One such event was held in 2018 when an Open House was organized at the refinery. Some 850 visitors took the opportunity to see the otherwise restricted site.
