The conference provided an opportunity to examine the future directions of the asphalt paving industry.
The ISAP Conference meets every four years, and the 12th ISAP Conference on Asphalt Pavements was held in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA on June 1-5, 2014.
At the conference, Xiaohu Lu, Nynas Research, gave a presentation entitled “Evaluation of Test Sections with Polymer Modified Bitumen”.
The ISAP 2014 Conference addressed many topics in the four main areas of asphalt pavement engineering, i.e. design, materials, construction, and preservation. With over 310 participates from about 30 countries, the conference provided an opportunity to examine the future directions of the asphalt paving industry in terms of technology, innovation and key sustainable issues, such as long-term performance, recycling, and environmental protection.
The most addressed topics include characterization of asphaltic materials, additives and modifiers for asphalt concrete, pavement design and analysis, sustainable and innovative asphalt technologies (including warm mix asphalts), recycling, as well as long-term pavement performance.
The International Society for Asphalt Pavements (ISAP) is a volunteer organization of professionals and experts in asphalt engineering whose goal is to share the latest in leading edge asphalt pavement technology worldwide. The ISAP Conference on Asphalt Pavements has been the major source of state-of-the-art and state-of-the-practice information in asphalt technology since its first meeting in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA in 1962.
