Road2Science (R2S) is a Competence Center at KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) in Stockholm, Sweden, with focuses on enhancing innovation and continuous learning in the transport infrastructure sector. R2S is now widening its network of contacts within its partners by offering free individual membership through its virtual interface, R2S Virtual World.
All the activities, information, tools and services will be available to the members and can be set up based on individual interests. R2S can contribute to your daily research, engineering and business activities through on-line courses and webinars, Q&A with experts, information on latest innovations and applied research results, talent recruiting, and a dynamic national/international networks to take part in.
As a leading bitumen specialist, Nynas has been one of the main partners in R2S since it was established in 2012. Some of the main challenges in the infrastructure industry are to reduce costs, reduce energy consumption and greenhouse emissions, improve safety and drive economic growth with fast, efficient movement of people and goods. These goals call for new innovations that are central to R2S mission.
- Nynas strongly supports the research in this field. It is essential that such research takes advantage of and build upon the knowledge that already exist. Being involved in R2S Center gives Nynas the opportunity to join force and collaborate with other stakeholders in transportation infrastructure in dealing with important common challenges and in finding sustainable solutions to these challenges, says Per Redelius, Chief Scientist at Nynas, and continues:
- It’s most important to find better ways to transfer academic knowledge into practical use.
