Safety comes first at Harburg

When the new loading facility was being planned and built at Harburg, safety was top of the agenda. The facility, which is fully automated, has features including fall and overfill protection, which are in turn built into a database for documentation and control.

Before a tanker is allowed access, the driver must also undergo an induction process and answer an induction questionnaire to illustrate that all the required site safety procedures have been fully understood.

The drivers handle the loading themselves and all product qualities are available from all loading bays.

The new facility is an important investment. It means that Nynas in Harburg has full control over the whole distribution chain – from the import of crude oil to the finished product being delivered to customers in Germany, France, Benelux, Austria and Switzerland – resulting in greater flexibility.

In the video below it briefly shows how the tankers are loaded in practice, based on the objective that the safety of drivers always has top priority.

Safety is no accident. Observe, think and act.
