Aluminium is primarily used in three major industries; transportation, packaging, and construction. It is vital to the structural components of aircraft, automobiles, trains, and boats. Transport accounts for the largest share of aluminium consumption: 27%, a figure that is bound to keep growing over the next few years.
About 20% of all aluminium produced is used in packaging materials, such as aluminium foil and aluminium cans. Because of its durability and resistance to corrosion, about 15% of aluminium produced each year is used in construction applications. More cost-efficient than copper, aluminium's electrical conductivity also allows it to be employed in long distance conductor lines.
Well suited for recycling
Aluminium is infinitely recyclable and its reuse can save up to 95 percent of the energy consumed compared to primary production. Two thirds of the aluminium ever produced is still in use. Americans recycle about 120,000 aluminium cans every minute and every second at least 1,000 aluminium beverage cans are being recycled somewhere in Europe.
NYNAS® S 3B for aluminium cold rolling
Lightness, strength and durability make rolled aluminium one of the most versatile materials available for packaging, transport, and building and construction.
The newly launched NYNAS® S 3B is a highly refined naphthenic base oil that is ideal for industrial applications including aluminium cold rolling, thin sheet stamping and some forming, for example in the can industry.
Distilled from selected crude streams with unrivalled knowhow of high purification technology and hydrotreatment, the product is unique in the market.
