The Annual Local Authority Road Maintenance (ALARM) survey 2015 has been published March 26 by the Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA). Each year the AIA commissions an independent survey of all local authority highways departments in England and Wales to gain an understanding of the general condition of the local road network.
The 2015 report highlights that almost 2.7 million potholes have been filled in the last year – around a third more than the previous year – and that while we are moving in the right direction, local authorities still need over £12 billion, the same amount reported last year, to bring the local road network up to scratch.
