Extensively appreciated for its whiteness and brightness by producers of mainly paint, plastics and paper, but also cosmetics, titanium dioxide (TiO2) also known as titanium dioxide, clearly needs to be as white as possible.
Unfortunately, the most popular and least wasteful production method for TiO2, a chlorine process used for around 60 % of the global capacity, also results in impurities that can cause discolouration in end products.
