Jayme Nunes, Senior Technical Coordinator Transformer Oils, has been appointed coordinator of CIGRÉ-Brazil Study Committee D1, a recognition of Nunes’s expertise in the fields of insulating materials and testing techniques.
As committee coordinator, Nunes is responsible for creating new Brazilian working groups and the participation of D1 members in international working groups. He will also promote and coordinate CIGRÉ-Brazil events, such as workshops, symposiums and seminars.
"I'm both glad and motivated about the coordinator role," Nunes says. "The D1 Study Committee is an important committee in the CIGRÉ organisation, and my nomination is a recognition by CIGRÉ's experts of Nynas's expertise in insulating materials and testing techniques."
CIGRÉ, the Council on Large Electric Systems, is an international non-profit association for promoting collaboration with experts around the world by sharing knowledge and joining forces to improve electric power systems. The work performed within CIGRÉ is research-oriented, and results and conclusions from CIGRÉ-International are often used as a base when revising or developing new IEC standard test methods.
CIGRÉ-Brazil is the largest community inside the CIGRÉ organisation. The Study Committee D1-Brazil is a support committee for CIGRÉ Brazil's 15 other study committees in their analysis of recently introduced and developing materials, emerging test techniques and diagnostic techniques.
D1-Brazil also monitors and evaluates new and existing materials for electro technology; diagnostic techniques and related rules; as well as emerging test techniques that may be expected to have a significant impact on power systems in the medium to long term.
"There is a constant demand for technical support from other committees to deal with," Nunes says. "There are also some very exciting new topics to study, such as nano materials and some new electrical testing techniques that can become important applications in the future. All in all, it seems the coordination will be anything but boring."
