The world’s longest interconnector is currently being planned to create the first electricity link between Norway and the UK.
The world’s longest interconnector is currently being planned to create the first electricity link between Norway and the UK. With a capacity of 1,400 MW – enough to power nearly 750,000 homes – the North Sea Link will comprise a 730-kilometre subsea HVDC system.
Concurrently, the NordLink interconnection is being built between Norway and Germany to support the integration of renewable energy into the countries’ grids. Nynas will be supplying transformer oil to the project, due to be completed in 2020.
Nynas’ new innovative insulating liquid NYTRO® BIO 300X has been successfully delivered to and tested in a transformer serving electricity customers in Gothenburg, Sweden.
