Nynas oils contribute to safe and efficient winter tyres

Tyres made with Nynas oils provide low rolling resistance, reducing energy losses and fuel consumption, while maintaining wet grip for improved control on snow and ice.

Nynas naphthenic tyre oils are renowned for their positive contribution to rolling resistance - the force resisting motion when a body rolls on a surface – helping drivers conserve energy and fuel, and contributing to a more efficient drive.

Reduced rolling resistance, resulting in improved fuel economy and a reduction of CO2 emissions, is a key requirement which is expected to shape the industry going forward.

“Tyres play an increasingly significant role as the fuel efficiency of cars is broken down into components. Through the benefits they offer, our oils add sustainable value for both manufacturers and drivers themselves,’’ says Dr. Herbert Fruhmann, Market Manager for Tyres.

With cold weather conditions impacting roads in many countries at this time of the year, it is critical that tyres made with Nynas oils do not compromise on other important technical properties.

“Our NYTEX® tyre oil range is specially designed to be flexible at low temperatures, while offering durability and reliability, so that drivers can reach their destination safely,’’ adds Dr. Fruhmann.

It is the wax-free nature of naphthenic oils which makes them ideal when used as a tool for winter tyre formulations. Enabling retention of rubber elasticity and dynamic stiffness in winter conditions, naphthenic oils also improve traction, which is a key performance criterion for winter tyres.

KONČAR – D&ST and Nynas supply sustainable transformer technology to Sweden’s first wooden substation

Nynas recently joined KONČAR - Distribution and Special Transformers Inc. (KONČAR – D&ST) in Zagreb for the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of a power transformer destined for a truly innovative grid project. The unit will be installed at E.ON’s new transformer station in Karlshammar, southern Sweden – the country’s first power station built primarily in wood.

Built to Last: What Long-Term Field Data Tells Us About PMB Performance

A new white paper from Nynas looks at real-world data on the long-term field performance of polymer modified bitumen (PMB) and what it means for road durability.
