How to lower the ECO footprint of a tyre

The environmental impact of tyres comes mainly from their usage, but also to quite some extent from the raw materials. Making more environmentally friendly tyres thus requires using more renewable and recyclable material.

In all areas of society, the search for more sustainable solutions is gaining intensity. In the case of tyres, the environmental impact comes mainly from their usage, but also to quite some extent from the raw materials.

Making more environmentally friendly tyres thus requires using more renewable and recyclable material. On average, today’s consumer tyres consist of less than 20% such resources, so there is room for improvement.

One important product in this context is NYTEX® BIO 6200 – Nynas’ first tyre and rubber oil to be produced using renewable feedstock. It delivers the superior quality and performance of all Nynas tyre oils, including reduced rolling resistance.

“In addition to increasing the amount of renewable material in the tyres, the reduced rolling resistance lowers CO2 emissions of the car – or extends the range of electric vehicles,” says Dr Herbert Fruhman, Nynas Market Manager Tyres.
