The pavement industry joins forces
In autumn 2021, the inaugural general meeting of the Swedish Pavement Association was held.
Discussions have been ongoing for many years about the possibility of forming an association for the asphalt and pavement industry in Sweden. A starting point has been that the challenges of today and tomorrow are best solved by cooperation among all relevant stakeholders. In autumn 2021, the inaugural general meeting of the Swedish Pavement Association was held, and work could start in earnest.
The association’s statutes state that they shall “promote the common interests of members in good ethics, a high standard of technical expertise in execution with a focus on sustainability, good documentation and the coordination of issues relating to safety, health, education and methodology.”
The newly elected board contains representatives of contractors, suppliers, consultants and institutes of higher education, as well as industry customers such as the Swedish Transport Administration. One board member is Johanna Andréasson, Marketing Director Nynas Bitumen.
“The industry is facing a number of challenges, not least the transformation to reduce the climate impact”, she says. “The best way to meet this and other challenges is together, and this is what the association can help to achieve.”
