Nynäshamn, Sweden
One of the world’s largest naphthenic manufacturing plants and the cornerstone of Nynas’ operations. In 2004, the production site became the first of its kind in the world to utilise biomass for steam production, with steam generated by a cogeneration plant fuelled by wood chips and other biomaterials.
Gothenburg, Sweden
Focused on bitumen production for the Nordic market, with ongoing investments to enhance product quality and sustainability.
Eastham, United Kingdom
A 50/50 joint venture with Shell, located on the River Mersey, serving the UK market with bitumen and specialty products, including polymer-modified binders (PMB) and emulsions.
Nynas operates a network of production sites, offices and depots across Europe, as well as sales and logistics facilities in the Americas, Asia and Africa. From our European base, we serve customers worldwide with efficient logistics and high-quality products.
Internationally sourced feedstocks are processed at three manufacturing sites into bitumen and Naphthenic Specialty Products (NSP), resulting in more than 200 end products for a wide range of industries and applications.
Our NSP are produced using severe catalytic hydrotreatment to remove impurities and reduce aromatic content, providing very clean, high-quality products that meet stringent functional and health requirements. Bitumen production is optimised to ensure consistent product quality.

Our supply network enables prompt and reliable deliveries by ship, truck and rail. Proximity to customers in core markets, together with Nynas’ position as the only NSP producer in Europe, provides a competitive advantage in transport costs and emissions. Through our sales and technical network, we ensure close customer cooperation and support.
Service and product quality of the highest standard is a cornerstone of Nynas’ offering. Before delivery, our products undergo extensive analyses and controls to ensure optimal performance in the customer application. End-to-end in-house production enables full control of bespoke product solutions.
Our manufacturing sites are designed to use multiple feedstocks in the production. Through continuous development of feedstocks and processes – with assessment and testing at both pilot and full scale – we maintain a flexible and secure feedstock portfolio that supports reliable customer supply.
