Nynas Transformer fluids are reducing the CO₂ emissions – the efficient and sustainable choice
Boosting efficiency, Nynas transformer fluids allow operators to save energy and reduce CO₂ emissions. Nynas’ super grade transformer fluid NYTRO® 10XN came out on top in a recent independent sustainability study.
By using NYTRO® 10 XN instead of an average mineral or isoparaffinic oil in just one transformer, operators will be able to make lifetime energy savings of about 1.5 TJ. The savings were even bigger when the comparison was made with natural ester oil, equivalent to up to 9 TJ, the investigators concluded.

Nynas also offers some innovative new transformer oil grades formulated from biobased hydrocarbons or re-refined used transformer oil. These outperform most other fluids when it comes to resource efficiency and environmental footprint of the raw materials, thereby offering energy and greenhouse gas savings in the cradle to gate phase.
The study, which combined Net Energy Analysis (NEA) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), was commissioned by Nynas. It enabled comparison of energy and greenhouse gas emissions trade-offs made when one product is used instead of another. It was based on a 40 MVA transformer assuming a 35-year lifetime at an average load of 50 percent.
